Delete your data

Last updated 9 September 2026

The short version. AuthNest, published by Neh Patel, has no server and holds no copy of your data. Your vault is encrypted on your device and stored in the private application folder of your own Google Drive.

That means deletion is not a request you send to us and wait on. It is something you carry out yourself, and when you do it, every stored copy is gone. There is no account with AuthNest to close and nothing on our side to erase.

How to delete everything

Two steps. The second is the one that matters, because it removes the copy that would otherwise outlive the app on your phone.

1. Remove the app from your devices

Uninstall AuthNest from Android in the usual way: press and hold the app icon, then choose Uninstall, or use Settings, then Apps, then AuthNest, then Uninstall.

If you use the browser extension, remove it from your browser's extensions page.

This deletes the vault held on that device along with its keys.

2. Delete the vault from your Google Drive

The encrypted vault in your Drive is not removed by uninstalling the app, so this step is required to delete it.

  1. Open Google Drive settings on a computer, or open the Drive app and choose Settings.
  2. Select Manage apps.
  3. Find AuthNest in the list.
  4. Choose Options, then Delete hidden app data.

This permanently deletes the encrypted vault. Because we hold no copy and cannot decrypt it, there is nothing to recover afterwards, by you or by us.

Optional: disconnect AuthNest from your Google account

To also withdraw the app's permission to use that folder in future, open your Google account permissions, select AuthNest, and choose Remove access.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Data Where it lives What happens
Vault contents: site names, usernames, passwords, two-factor secrets, passkeys, notes, tags and website addresses Encrypted on your device and in your own Google Drive Deleted immediately by the steps above. No retention period, because no copy exists anywhere else
Master password and recovery key Never stored anywhere, on your device or off it Nothing to delete. The master password is used to derive a key and is not retained
Your Google account address On your device only, to label the signed-in account Deleted when you uninstall the app
Analytics, crash reports, usage data, advertising identifiers Not collected Nothing to delete. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code

Nothing is retained by the developer after deletion, because nothing was ever received. There is no AuthNest server, no database, no backup and no account record. This is a property of how the app is built rather than a promise about how we behave.

Deleting one item instead of everything

To remove a single login, open it in the app and choose Delete. The vault is an append-only encrypted journal, so a deletion is recorded as a new entry that removes the item on every device at the next sync rather than editing history in place. The deleted item's contents are no longer readable by the app once that entry has synced.

To remove everything at once, follow the two steps above.

If you need help

If any of the steps above do not work, or you want confirmation that nothing is held, write to nehpatel.authnest@gmail.com and we will answer.

We cannot delete your data on your behalf. Not as a policy, but because we have no access to it: the vault sits in your Google account, sealed with a key derived from a master password we never receive.
